I’d never seen Al Franken in a comedy sketch until an SNL re-run with the late Kirk Douglas as host was shown in February 2020. Franken did a sketch for the “Weekend Update” segment and he was hilarious. Franken was strongly encouraging registration in the military draft for all youth in the appropriate age bracket. Then he admitted that unfortunately he, Al Franken, was just a little past the age for the draft, therefore he simply couldn’t join them. Franken’s timing was perfect. I enjoyed that sketch it immensely.
